How BB Glow Treatments Can Help You Grow Your Esthetician Practice

Imagine a client coming to you with complaints about their uneven skin tone and being able to offer them an option that allows them to wake up looking airbrushed every day. A new treatment called BB Glow provides a clear, even-toned complexion with a microneedling procedure that injects semi-permanent BB cream into the skin. Think of it as microblading for the whole face.

The coverage of the BB cream creates the look of a full face of a lightweight foundation. It disguises uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation caused by acne or sun damage, and even fine lines and wrinkles.

So what is the BB Glow treatment?

The BB Glow treatment is similar to traditional microneedling, but instead of depositing a serum, a semi-permanent tinted BB cream is inserted one millimeter into the skin.

The BB cream is premixed to match your client’s skin tone so that the effect is completely natural, simply a flawless version of their existing skin.

The best candidate for BB Glow treatments is someone with healthy skin free of open wounds. BB Glow is not recommended for anyone with inflammatory skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should also avoid this treatment.

If you have a client with particularly sensitive skin, it’s a good idea to test a small patch of skin on the back of the neck or wrist before going for the full facial treatment.

What is the treatment process like?

The entire BB Glow process takes two to three hours. First, the skin is cleansed and exfoliated. Next, you’ll numb the face for at least 20 minutes to ease discomfort during the treatment. Then, the premixed BB cream is microneedled into the skin. Once the microneedling process is finished, you’ll apply a hyaluronic mask to seal in the BB cream and provide added hydration.

The recovery is minimal with mild redness and dryness for up to a couple of days after the treatment is finished. Clients shouldn’t wash their face for 24 hours, and they’ll want to avoid retinol or retin-A products for a week.

The effect of BB Glow lasts from four to six months, Two treatments are recommended for optimal results, with each treatment costing $200 – $250.

Are there any downsides to BB Glow treatments?

Because BB Glow is such a new innovation, it’s not yet approved by the FDA. Some clients may be wary of a treatment that isn’t regulated or tested by the FDA.

As with any microneedling treatment, skin irritation is a possibility. Allergic reactions, rashes, and inflammation are rare but potential side effects. If you’re concerned about how your client’s skin will react, you can do a small test patch first.

How can you bring BB Glow treatment to your clients?

If the BB Glow treatment sounds like something you’d like to offer in your practice, you can complete the training online or in person. The online training costs $999, and in-person training is $1300 with both options providing the same content. A BB Glow business starter kit is included with both the online and in-person options.

Once you’ve done the training, you can expect to charge $200 – $250 per treatment. The cost of each treatment is about $50, yielding you $150 to $200 in profit. Given the two to three hours of treatment time, this means you’d be making between $50 and $75 per hour.

The Bottom Line

BB Glow is an exciting new option to offer your clients who want the look of flawless skin. While the training cost is moderate, you can expect to earn back your investment with five to six clients.
